Ragas of the Valley

Ragas of the Valley is a concert of Indian Classical music celebrating the legacy of legends santoor maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and bansuri (flute) guru Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, commonly referred to as the composer duo Shiv-Hari. Both maestros celebrated their 80th birthdays this year and their friendship spans 51 years from the release of their epic album Call of the Valley. The concert will feature works from their extensive repertoire spanning a diverse cross-section including pure classical ragas and items from Call of the Valley through to their film compositions like Silsila. The concert features a duet of santoor and flute by a fine quartet from India led by Santosh Sant (flute) and Sandip Chatterjee (santoor) accompanied by Subhankar Banerjee (tabla) and Bhawani Shankar (pakhawaj and side percussion).
