Opera Kaleidoscope

UCT Opera School, with Kamal Khan at the piano, bring Poulenc’s harrowing and ultimately uplifting Dialogues of the Carmelites
back to Cape Town audiences in a staging by Christine Crouse of Cape Town Opera.

The unforgettable score, filled with passionate lyricism and transcendent spirituality, is based on the real-life story of religious persecution in the French Revolution.

It shines a spotlight on the role of the individual and his spiritual growth in troubled times, and has lost none of its immediacy since its 1957 première.
