JENNIFER #wetoo

The Baxter Theatre Centre in partnership with The Forgotten Angle Theatre Company and Peace of Music presents

JENNIFER #wetoo

Jennifer Ferguson returns to South Africa with a celebration of music that raises the personal (#metoo) to the universal (#wetoo). JENNIFER is everywoman, everyman. In partnership with The Forgotten Angle Theatre Company, these concerts will be both joyful and introspective, but also an articulated celebration of the spirit of #truthspeak  and #hisandherstory. Renowned choral conductor and co-script-writer of the Swedish Academy-award nominated film ‘As it is in Heaven,’ Anders Nyberg, will share the musical direction. Special guest artists include Zolani Mohala of Freshly Ground and Tina Schouw as well as some of Cape Town’s best musicians and singers. The concerts are a creative response to the recent disclosure of Jennifer’s rape. They will be a song-communion of healing for all who have been hurt, somewhere, sometime. Men and women. So that we can rise again with a mature vision for a more courageous and authentic life, rise and sing…together.

Ferguson is one of SA’s most powerful and gifted singer-songwriters whose music was banned in the 80’s. Zolani Mohala will be a special guest artist on opening night. Musicians include Ronan Skillen, Mark Fransman, Shaun Johannes, Su Lubner Gabriel and Johanna Nyberg and the Cape Town Youth Choir Vocal Ensemble.
