Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards 2018

The Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards is considered amongst the most prized and prestigious in the South African performing arts industry. This year’s ceremony will take place on Sunday, 18 March at 17:30 at the Baxter Theatre Centre in Cape Town and promises to be an “Elegantly Extravagant” evening. For over 50 years the Fleur du Cap wine brand has proudly associated itself with the Theatre Awards as displaying the flair that is synonymous with the wine. Through awarding excellence in professional theatre Fleur du Cap wine and the Theatre Awards have played a significant role in the lives of South African theatre-makers.

For the first time in the history of the Fleur de Cape Theatre Awards, theatre lovers can share in the celebrations from the comfort of their own home, in real-time, through a virtual experience. The 53rd Fleur de Cap Theatre Awards will be the first premium theatre production to enable digital audiences to attend the event using Virtual Reality, using only their computer or mobile devices. How will it work? A 360-degree camera will be installed on the stage, offering digital theatregoers an immersive experience – and making them part of the action. The virtual experience will begin 10 minutes before the show starts. VR ticket holders will receive a link with instructions to the live VR feed, enabling them to stream the show.

To be one of the first to enjoy Fleur de Cap in VR, you can purchase your tickets on WebTickets. Ticketholders will then receive an SMS after tickets have closed (12 March 2018), explaining the entire process. Tickets cost only R100 each, and standard data rates apply. NoaVR is a Virtual Reality Ticket company, that compliments theatres and music shows. The company is founded to enable new audiences to attend shows, using 360-degree video streaming services.
