Legacy to the Arts

Legacy to the Arts

The Baxter Theatre Centre owes its existence to the bequest of William Duncan Baxter to the University of Cape Town in 1960. The theatre was built from this legacy in 1977. The theatre exists today with the aid of an annual grant from the Baxter Endowment Fund – the remainder of William Duncan Baxter’s bequest. We have from time to time received bequests from our donors and friends which go towards keeping the theatre accessible and open to all, and we are sincerely grateful for these gifts.

In acknowledgement of donors and friends who have made provision for the Baxter Theatre Centre in their Wills, we have formed the Baxter Legacy to the Arts Club. This Club will meet annually at a special event to thank bequest donors for their forethought.

If you would like more information on making provision for the Baxter Theatre Centre in your Will, or would like to join the Baxter Legacy to the Arts Club, please call Johann Davis at 021 680 3983. We would love to welcome you as a member of this very special club.
