Joe Barber presents
Oscar Petersen and David Isaacs in
JOE BARBER 5 – SCHOOL CUTS

30 November – 15 January (Theatre)
It's time once again to take out your old school uniforms, tie your hair in pony tails, pull up your socks and pack your toebroodjies as comedy legends David Isaacs and Oscar Petersen return to the Baxter for one last season of the smash-hit comedy Joe Barber 5 – School Cuts. This run will conclude their highly successful national tour which started in Cape Town, going through Johannesburg, Windhoek, Port Elizabeth and East London, where it has thus far been hailed by audiences and critics as the best Joe Barber show yet!
Directed by Heinrich Reisenhofer and with music by Jitsvinger, School Cuts explores all those familiar stories from the first awkward day at school wearing a uniform that was two sizes too big to the highs of matric and interschool sports, your first school crush and being sent to the principal's office for punishment, sometimes with ... school cuts!
Barber shop owners Boeta Joe and Boeta Gamat are offering their own school-cut specials as they attempt to host a school reunion in the barber shop along with the gossiping Washiela who provides the catering. Add an overworked and underpaid Outjie to the mix and the reunion efforts become a potential recipe for comical disaster.
As with all Joe Barber productions, this is an interactive affair. Audience members get involved with the stage action and are encouraged to come dressed in their old school uniforms. There will be prizes for the best dressed and the house with the best school spirit!

Nik Rabinowitz presents
YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS

7 December – 8 January (Golden Arrow Studio)
Nik Rabinowitz returns to the Baxter in December for a solo show that promises to be a stand-up tour de farce. We can't say exactly what that means, except to say it's not a farce, nor is it in French. Also it has nothing to do with racing ... but it is sort of about race. Basically there is no doubt the show will be very funny; we can't say why as he hasn't written it yet – but no doubt he will and no doubt you will ... laugh! Probably. Maybe. Definitely!
