Brett Goldin Bursary Fund

Brett Goldin To honour and perpetuate the memory of slain actor Brett Goldin, the Baxter Theatre Centre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Actors Centre initiated a bursary in his name.

Omphile Molusi from Johannesburg was selected as the first recipient of the Brett Goldin Bursary in 2007. He spent a month working with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the United Kingdom, and plans to share the knowledge and skills he acquired there with young people in townships and "help aspiring actors to grow and send them on their journeys".

In 2008 the bursary was won by two young Cape Town actors, Nicholas Pauling and Thami Mbongo, who also spent a month working with the RSC. The 2010 recipients were Thato Moraka and Josette Eales.

The Baxter is now calling for applications for auditions for the 2012 Brett Goldin Bursary.

To support the Brett Goldin Bursary Fund, cheques should be made out to the University of Cape Town, with "for the Brett Goldin Investment Fund" written either at the bottom or on the back of the cheque, and posted to the Director, Baxter Theatre Centre, P O Box 297, Rondebosch 7701. All donations will be acknowledged by Johann Davis, the Baxter's Fundraising and Campaign Manager.

All enquiries should be directed to Lara Foot at the Baxter Theatre Centre on 021 680 3988.
